A Plethora of Porgies

The reef is still over run with mackerel and blue runners so we move to the seven mile bridge to try for some big mangroves. We hit the bridge right at the beginning of slack tide which can be difficult. We got a little lucky and had a steady bite of good size porgies in the 1.5 to 2 pound range. Actually it was the best porgy bite I had to date in the Keys. Only manage one nice mangrove and fat yellowtail though because there were so many porgies.

Not a problem though because Chicago Joe and crew know how good porgies eat. All of the porgies were caught on live shrimp though they would have bitten about anything yesterday. Today we are going to try a little offshore action. Hopefully I can put Joe on his first sail.

Marathon in the Florida Keys should be your next fishing vacation destination. Join us for charter fishing, fishing guide trips or our fishing 101 so you can fish on your own with better success.

Tight lines,

Capt. Dallas
